A not-so-quiet Sunday morning in Mumford for the A's

Race coverage: Todd Scheske, Legaci Cycling

The race fired off with a couple of really hard efforts the first couple of laps up the big hill but the pack was resilient and kept reeling things back, even as some riders we left in arears. About halfway into the race the August boys of AJ and Trevor decided to pair up together and head up the road and with very little response from behind soon the duo was out of sight with possibly one of the Tryon bike riders (Mattison)?) hanging on for grim death. With a duo nearly out of sight it was Andy August leading an attack and taking Drew Deeney with him. That pair quickly put on 15 to 20 seconds of what remained of a tattered group behind of around 8 Riders. Ethan Carney struck out on his own trying to bridge the gap but could never make full contact with the duo just ahead of him. As the remains of the day pack entered the final Hill it appeared the August boys were far up the road followed by Andy August… and now Markus cox and Geoff Lawrence joined forces catching Ethan. In the end Trevor August took the win with AJ right behind, followed in by Andy August for the family trifecta! Geoff Lawrence took the next A spot with Drew taking top B group place. Ethan held on as Scheske overhauled Marcus on the final meters.
