Week 2 saw about 45 riders take on the Chili course for a pretty nice Spring evening following some 5pm showers. Special welcome to Alessandro Cannizzo (13) and Matt Howard who were attending their first Tuesday night G-tour road race.
In the Bs there were many efforts to animate an escape by Marsh, Shetty, Panek, Vorrasi and McNamara. Ultimately the softened field conceded to strong man Matt McNamara with a solid sprint win to open his 2021 account.
In the As, after a handful of early attacks the August boys got to work launching themselves at the 2nd lap prime. An alert van Aardt was able to score max points there and without a response from the peloton the move of the day quickly opened the gap. Trevor and AJ dropped their passengers (Cardona, then van Aardt & Mattison) on the next lap and a half while setting the course KOM (hello some kind of training loop or whatever) in the process. The duo carried on to the finish with a ~45 minute two man TT over the split field behind. And in the race for 3rd it came down to a legit photo finish, and what a great photo it is (cred to J Baker)!
